ABOUT ME

Making and creating are two verbs that have driven my life.   My fascination with art began with dance and the theatrical arts.  Later after a long practicing and teaching career, it was only natural I would find great pleasure in creating with clay and a variety of other media.   I hold a Bachelors's and Masters's degree in Theatre Arts with over 60 hours in education and art-related topics. Over the last several years I have continued my art studies in ceramic sculpture.  I am always fascinated by the human form and the infinite possibilities that exist in its depiction through art whether onstage or off.

Materials & Techniques

I use a variety of clays and build my forms by traditional hand building methods. External surfaces are modeled with fingers and simple tools. Impressing is used to achieve desired textures, often highlighted using a wash of colored slip (liquid clay) and/or oxides.   Underglaze colors and glazes are sometimes used to add color along with cold finishes such as acrylics.   If necessary, epoxy resin is applied to connect additional parts for mixed media.  When used, textile materials are assembled and added after firing to create a sense of movement and  draw attention to the contrast between hard and soft, the real and the representational.   Please email for prices.
